My wife, Gretchen, and I opened Back Mountain Monument in the fall of 2021 to serve the Back Mountain and surrounding communities. We have been in the monument business for 17 years, as the owners of Tunkhannock Monuments LLC. I learned the craft of designing and setting monuments 20 years ago from Mr. Eugene Yonchiuk, the business’ original owner, who was in business since 1964.

I have always felt that is it truly important to provide someone a proper tribute to the life they’ve lived; to design and set a fitting and personalized memorial for their family and others to remember and honor their loved one’s memory. This, along with the families I serve, inspire me.

My staff and I are pleased to do business in a community which prides itself on its sense of community. The people of the Back Mountain have welcomed out business with such kindness and spirit. We’re hoping that by having our business located right here on 415, we can most easily and compassionately help a family design a customized family memorial or design a civic monument or stone piece, such as a yard, park, or business bench, they’re in need of. We also provide care stone services, which include cemetery lettering, stone washing, and restoration. The Back Mountain and greater Wyoming Valley is a place my family and staff look forward to serving for a long time.

We joined the Chamber to grow the business’ visibility, meet other businesses and support the Back Mountain, as a community.
