CASA of Wyoming Valley proudly invites the community to a complimentary screening of Brave the Dark, a powerful and heartfelt film based on a true story of resilience, compassion, and hope. Brave the Dark follows Mr. Deen, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students, Nate, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail. What begins as a simple act of kindness—bailing Nate out—quickly becomes a life-changing commitment as Mr. Deen helps Nate confront the trauma of his past and overcome the inner struggles threatening his future. Following the screening, attendees are invited to stay for a brief panel discussion featuring the filmmaker, CASA staff, and child advocates. Panelists will explore the film’s themes and discuss the real-world impact of advocacy, mentorship, and community support for children and youth who have experienced trauma.
